The zoom can be operated at the following 3 locations:

bullet02In the [ZOOM RING] menu, you can also change the turn direction for the zoom ring and change the zoom control. (character_reference[ZOOM RING])

(D) Zoom ratio

bullet02The zoom ratio can be confirmed between [Z00]/[iZ00] (maximum wide angle) to [Z99]/[iZ99] (maximum telephoto) on the screen display. The value becomes higher as the unit zooms in and smaller as the unit zooms out.


About the zoom speed

bullet02The zoom speed changes with the amount that the zoom lever (on the grip) is pushed or the speed that the zoom ring is turned.

bullet02The zoom is at a steady rate with the zoom lever (on the handle).

Performs the zoom operation with the speed set in the [CAMERA] menu character_arrow [SW MODE] character_arrow [H.ZOOM SPEED].


bullet02If you take your finger off the zoom lever during zoom operation, the operation sound may be recorded. When returning the zoom lever to the original position, move it quietly.

bullet02The units for the zoom ratio can be changed in the [ZOOM/FOCUS] menu. (character_reference[ZOOM/FOCUS])


Using i.ZOOM

When [i.ZOOM] is set to [ON], you can zoom to a maximum of approximately 32× (approximately 24× when recording with UHD) while maintaining the beauty of high-definition image quality.

  1. Select the [CAMERA] menu character_arrow [SW MODE] character_arrow [i.ZOOM] character_arrow [ON].

bullet02You can set [i.ZOOM] in a USER button so that you can use iZoom. (character_referenceAssigning functions to the USER buttons)

bullet02The zoom ratio display changes.

– iZ00 to iZ99: Optical zoom range

Using fast zoom

When [FAST ZOOM] is assigned to a USER button, you can use fast zoom by operating the zoom lever (on the grip).

  1. Select the [CAMERA] menu character_arrow [USER SW] character_arrow [USER1] to [USER14] character_arrow [FAST ZOOM].

  1. Either press the USER button assigned to [FAST ZOOM] or touch the USER button icon.

  1. Push the zoom lever (on the grip) until the end to zoom.

bullet02The zoom ratio display changes during fast zoom. (For example: icon_display_fzoom_z99)


bullet02When the [CAMERA] menu character_arrow [SW MODE] character_arrow [H.ZOOM SPEED] is set to [7], fast zoom can also be used by operating the zoom lever (on the handle).

bullet02As the operating noise of fast zoom will be louder than normal, the operating noise may be recorded during recording. If the operating noise is a problem, disable [FAST ZOOM].

bullet02Auto focus may not be able to keep up during fast zoom, depending on the subject.

bullet02Fast zoom cannot be used in the following case:

– When interval recording is enabled
