Functions Added to “LUMIX Lab”

The following functions have been added to “LUMIX Lab”:

[Remote shooting]

You can use the smartphone to record from a remote location while viewing the live view images from the camera.


Getting started:

bullet02Connect the camera to a smartphone by Bluetooth. (character_referenceConnecting to a Smartphone (Bluetooth Connection))

bullet02On the smartphone, start up “LUMIX Lab”.


  1. Select [Remote shooting] in the [Camera] screen.

bullet02Connect to the camera with Wi-Fi. Select [Join] to start the connection.

(A) [Remote shooting]

  1. Start recording.

bullet02The recorded image is saved on the camera.

(C) Starts/ends the video recording

bullet02When used in combination with [Auto Transfer], it is possible to automatically transfer the remotely recorded images to a smartphone.

bullet02If [Auto Transfer] is set to [ON] using the setting menu for remote recording, it is enabled when you return to the camera screen from the remote recording screen.

bullet02Certain features, including some settings, may not be available.


character_diamondOperation Method During Remote Recording

Set either the camera or the smartphone as the priority control device to be used during remote recording.


Touch [icon_lumix-lab_remote-priority] in the “LUMIX Lab” remote recording screen.

bullet02The icon switches each time you touch it.




icon_lumix-lab_remote-priority (Camera prioritized)

Operation is possible on both the camera and the smartphone.

bullet02The camera’s dial settings, etc. cannot be changed with the smartphone.

Operation is possible only on the smartphone.

bullet02The camera’s dial settings, etc. can be changed with the smartphone.

bullet02To end remote recording, press any of the buttons on the camera to turn on the screen, and select [End].



bullet02The default setting is [icon_lumix-lab_remote-priority] (Camera prioritized).


[Shutter Remote Control]

You can use the smartphone as a remote control for the shutter.


Getting started:

bullet02Connect the camera to a smartphone by Bluetooth. (character_referenceConnecting to a Smartphone (Bluetooth Connection))

bullet02On the smartphone, start up “LUMIX Lab”.


  1. Select [Shutter Remote Control] in the [Camera] screen.

character_diamondBulb Recording

The shutter can be kept open from the start to end of recording, which is useful for recording of starry skies or night scenery.


Getting started:

bullet02Set the camera to [M] mode.

bullet02Set the camera shutter speed to [T] (Time).


  1. Touch [icon_image-app-shutter-g] to start recording (keep touching, without removing your finger).

  1. Remove your finger from [icon_image-app-shutter-g] to end recording.

bullet02Slide [icon_image-app-shutter-g] in the direction of [LOCK] to record with the shutter button locked in a fully-pressed state.

(Slide [icon_image-app-shutter-y] back to its original position or press the camera shutter button to end recording)

bullet02During [B] (Bulb) recording, if the Bluetooth connection is broken, then carry out Bluetooth connection again, then end recording from the smartphone.

bullet02When [Auto Transfer] is set to [ON], [Shutter Remote Control] cannot be used.


Sending Images on the Camera to a Smartphone with Simple Operations

You can transfer pictures to a smartphone connected by Bluetooth just by pressing [Q] during playback.

You can also use the menu to connect easily.

bullet02You can also perform the same operation by pressing the Fn button registered with [Send Image (Smartphone)].


Getting started:

bullet02Install “LUMIX Lab” on your smartphone.

bullet02Connect the camera to a smartphone by Bluetooth. (character_referenceConnecting to a Smartphone (Bluetooth Connection))

bullet02Press [button_playback] on the camera to display the playback screen.


Send a single image

  1. Press character_leftcharacter_right to select the image.

  1. Press [Q].

  1. Select [Single Select].

bullet02To change the send settings of images, press [DISP.].

  1. Select [OK] on the smartphone.

bullet02This connects automatically using Wi-Fi.


Send multiple images

  1. Press [Q].

  1. Select [Multi Select].

bullet02To change the send settings of images, press [DISP.].

  1. Select the images and then transfer.

  1. Select [OK] on the smartphone.

Settings: [Single Select]/[Multi Select]


bullet02If [Single Select], press character_leftcharacter_right to select the image and then press button_menu-set to execute.

bullet02If [Multi Select], use the same operation as with “Send multiple images”. (character_referenceSend multiple images)

bullet02It is not possible to transfer images with file sizes exceeding 4 GB.

bullet02Images recorded using the following function cannot be transferred:

– [MOV] videos

bullet02When recording, recording is prioritized so it will take time for sending to complete.

bullet02If the camera is turned off, or the Wi-Fi is disconnected before sending is completed, then sending will not restart.

bullet02You may not be able to delete files or use the [Playback] menu while sending.

bullet02When [Auto Transfer] is set to [ON], [Send Image (Smartphone)] cannot be used.
